Arsenal drew at Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday, a result which saw them drop below Liverpool into second place.

The Premier League title race is incredibly tight, with Liverpool now two points ahead of Arsenal and three clear of Man City, and a draw against City was perhaps a good result for Mikel Arteta’s side.

It was the first time Arsenal had even earned a point away at Man City since Pep Guardiola’s arrival, but with nine games remaining in the league campaign, there is still a long way to go to determine who will be champions.

Former Man City defender Micah Richards has now claimed that whilst there are still potential twists and turns for all three teams, he is still adamant that his old side would go on to win it again.

Speaking on BBC Five Live Sport, Richards stated that he believes Man City are still best placed to win the title.

“It’s a ridiculous question. Everyone is asking this now and I would still go with what we said at the start of the season,” he stated of predicting who would win the league.

“There are too many games left to say that because next week we could be talking about someone else going top of the league.

“At this moment Man City are still in touching distance and they are not playing their absolute best so I would stick with my prediction at the start, I would still say Man City.”

Losing at the Etihad would have seen Man City leapfrog Arsenal in the table, and this would have been a disaster.

City arguably have the easiest fixture run-in for the rest of the season, but are behind the other two contenders for now.

Liverpool are top, but they, like Arsenal, also have a tough fixture list, and their injury problems across the squad could make maintaining consistency difficult.

Arsenal do have tough fixtures, but a draw at the Etihad proved that they are the best defensive side in the league, and they do have the foundations to beat anyone. Man City may still be favourites, but if Arsenal can continue their excellent 2024 form, they still have a big chance at winning the league.
