‘Ridiculous’ Porto star player now ruled out of Champions League clash v Arsenal

FC Porto’s star striker Mehdi Taremi is now officially out of tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal.

The Iranian international has been one of the Portuguese side’s most important players in recent years, with Taremi making close to 175 appearances for Porto and scoring 86 goals, assisting 53.

Whilst the 31-year-old forward has only managed six goals and four assists this season, Taremi has impressed in the Champions League, yet the Porto star will now not be facing Arsenal.

As per Porto’s official website, Taremi will not feature tomorrow against Arsenal, with the striker picking up an adductor injury in training on Sunday, with Goncalo Ribeiro, Marcano, Zaidu also ruled out.

Lauded by Rio Ferdinand as a ‘ridiculous’ forward, Taremi’s absence is a massive boost for Arsenal heading into tomorrow’s Champions League clash, where the Gunners will want to make a statement.

It’s been almost 15 years since the north London side have made it past the Round of 16 in Europe’s premier club competition, with Arsenal heading into this week’s tie with Porto in incredible form.

And with the home side now without their star attacker, Arsenal have no real excuse to not go all out in Portugal tomorrow night, where Mikel Arteta will want to win big at the Dragao.
