Arsenal’s season is not going to plan.

Mikel Arteta started the campaign with the aim of winning the Premier League title, but injuries have all but ended his side’s chances of lifting the trophy.

Arsenal are 15 points behind Liverpool, and although the Gunners have a game in hand, the gap just feels impossible to overcome.

However, Arsenal do have a chance of winning silverware in another competition – the Champions League. But, that is easier said than done.

Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott predict what will happen if Arsenal face Real Madrid in the Champions League

Arsenal have one foot in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

The Gunners still have a second-leg against PSV Eindhoven coming up, but it will take a miracle for the Dutch side to overcome Arteta’s 7-1 lead.

If Arsenal make it through to the quarter-final like everyone expects them to, Arteta’s men will face one of the two Madrid clubs – Real or Atletico.

Real Madrid have a 2-1 lead heading into the second leg, and many people believe it will be them who will join Arsenal in the quarter-final.

Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott both think Arsenal won’t stand a chance if they face the Galacticos.

Joel Beya, who is an Arsenal fan, disagreed and claimed that the Gunners will beat Real Madrid and go through. He also demanded an apology from both Ferdinand and Lescott if that happens in the quarter-finals in April.

Lescott, who was a part of Lee Carsley’s coaching staff when he managed England on an interim basis, replied: “If you beat Madrid? Yeah, I’ll apologise, 100 per cent, if you beat Madrid!”

Ferdinand added: “Yeah, that’s a given, but it isn’t happening, bro!”

What happened the last time Arsenal faced Real Madrid in the Champions League

Real Madrid are the kings of the Champions League – they are the favourites against any team.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have had their problems this season, but they almost always find a way to step it up when it matters the most.

Arsenal will be the underdogs if they face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals in April, but the Gunners’ record against the Galacticos is very good.

The North Londoners have only ever faced the Spanish giants on two occasions in history, and Arsenal are unbeaten.

Arsenal fans will take the above results all day long in April, and what will be an advantage for the Gunners is that Bukayo Saka is expected to be back by then.

If anyone in this Arsenal side can step up and produce a Thierry Henry-esque moment at the Bernabeu, it’s Saka, and we hope it happens.
