Arsenal begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a game against Wolves at home.
The Gunners have finished second in each of the last two campaigns. Manchester City have proved to be too good on both occasions, and that has been heartbreaking for Mikel Arteta.
A new season is upon us now, and Arsenal fans have a lot of reasons to be excited. There is every chance they can go and win it this term.
Rio Ferdinand has now revealed where he thinks Arsenal will finish in the 2024/25 season.
Rio Ferdinand makes Riccardo Calafiori claim while predicting Arsenal to win the Premier League
Arsenal signed Riccardo Calafiori for £34 million from Serie A side Bologna in July.
The Gunners were really keen to strengthen the left side of their defence this summer, and the Italian became Arteta’s top target.
Arsenal’s already-strong defence has now become even stronger, and that is amazing news ahead of the start of the new season.
Ferdinand, who knows a thing or two about winning Premier League titles, has had his say on who will be the champions in the upcoming campaign.
To many people’s surprise, the Manchester United legend has predicted that Arsenal will pip Manchester City to win the title because of Calafiori’s addition to the team.
He said on TNT Sports: “I think it’s hard to go against City because of how successful they have been over the last four seasons.
“They have set a new benchmark now, a new record of four in a row. That will be their aim, that will be their target and that will be the thing they will be aiming for in their dressing room.
“But, I just think Arsenal, with Calafiori coming in on the left side, if he comes in and sures that area up…
“I think he is a fantastic player, played in the Bologna team last year under Thiago Motta, a lot of rotations so he understands the type of football that Arteta wants to play.
“I think that was the area that you would say was probably a slight weakness in the team. I think he gives them more balance there and a bit of stability. I’d go maybe Arsenal to win it (the league).”
Arsenal’s first five fixtures will define their season
Winning the Premier League depends on how the whole season goes, but Arsenal could find out where they stand in the first couple of months of the campaign.
Arsenal have been handed a really difficult start to the new season.
They begin the campaign with a game against Wolves at home but then have a very difficult away trip to Birmingham where they will face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Arsenal’s third game of the season is a home game against Brighton and Hove Albion, but they then have two massively difficult fixtures – back-to-back away clashes against Tottenham and Manchester City.
If Arteta’s men can come out of these five fixtures in better shape than Manchester City, we believe Arsenal will go on and win the Premier League title this season.
