Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are not in the conversation for Premier League Player of the Season.
The debate over who has been the best player in the league this term has finally begun to ramp up, with Manchester City winger Phil Foden seemingly the leading candidate.
Having already achieved his best goalscoring record of any season, it makes sense why the 22-year-old is the general public’s favourite, even if Saka has contributed more goals in fewer games than Foden.
Rio Ferdinand snubs Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice for Player of the Season debate

And speaking to TNT Sports, Ferdinand didn’t even acknowledge Rice or Saka as potential candidates for Player of the Season, even with Arsenal currently the best team in the country based on form.
Indeed, the former Manchester United has said some quite outlandish things about Arsenal in recent weeks, and Ferdinand has again added to his collection with this latest claim.
Ferdinand said: “He’s [Foden] in that mix. When you’re talking about Player of the Season, who else is there? There’s no one jumping off the page. Ollie Watkins maybe. But I think this guy is top of the tree at the moment.
“There’s still a long way to go in the season, and you’ve got to produce on this home straight. He’s used to it, he’s experienced enough, and I think he’s in the driving seat for that trophy.”
Arsenal star could end up winning Player of the Season award

Arsenal are the statistically best team in the Premier League when it comes to attack and defence, with the Gunners on a run of form that gives them the aura of champions.
And with so many players performing at their sporting apex, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Saka, Rice or Martin Odegaard were named the Premier League Player of the Season.
Indeed, there’s a real chance that the Gunners can end the year with silverware if they can maintain this level of form, and Ferdinand might once again end up with egg on his face over another Arsenal claim.
