Rob Green backs another Arsenal gem besides Max Dowman to be the Premier League’s best young player this season

Arsenal academy graduate Max Dowman has been backed by several pundits to be the Premier League’s young player of the season.

However, Premier League Productions pundit Rob Green has opted for a different Arsenal youngster to land the accolade for the 2025/26 campaign.

Arsenal have made a real name for themselves as a club that gives youth a chance, with plenty of top talents coming through the ranks in recent years.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri had their respective breakthroughs last season, while Max Dowman has been tipped to explode this term.

On the Premier League website, two pundits – Michael Owen and Tim Sherwood – backed Dowman to be the breakout star for 2025/26.

However, Rob Green backed Myles Lewis-Skelly to build on his breakthrough campaign last season to emerge as the league’s best youngster this term.

Green said of Lewis-Skelly: “He will improve positionally and he has the ability on the ball to dictate in the hybrid role of right-back/defensive midfielder.”

What Myles Lewis Skelly has said about his Arsenal future

Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a wonderful breakout campaign last term as he became an Arsenal first-teamer and began his journey with the England senior team.

Better still, the 18-year-old penned a new long-term contract earlier this summer and expressed his desire to become a legend at N5.

Speaking to the club upon signing his new contract, Lewis-Skelly said he wants to build a ‘legacy’ in North London.

Lewis-Skelly stated: “I want a legacy, I want to win everything there is to win in the game.

“I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

Arsenal face Manchester United away in their first Premier League game of the season.

With that in mind, Lewis-Skelly will have the opportunity to impress against a high-profile opponent as the start of what could be a defining campaign for him and the club.
