Robin Van Persie smashed in four goals and Ju Young hammered home a hat-ttrick. Alas, not for the Arsenal. The strikers were last night on international duty for Holland and South Korea respectively. Seemingly, we will have to wait to see if the frontmen can deliver goals in that number against Swansea next week. Here’s hoping.
Oh, and Rambo nicked one for Wales, too.
So to the papers and Gooner goings on in general in the media this morning. Disturbingly this is doing the rounds: United States midfielder Clint Dempsey claims there was “interest from many clubs, including Arsenal” during the transfer window, but insists he is committed to current club Fulham.
Don’t think so, pal. Clint Eastwood, maybe.
Theo played for England last night in the 3-0 win over one of the Wombles but it was an Arsenal target, Gary Cahill who caught the eye and nabbed a goal. And in this morning’s Mirror Bolton winger Martin Petrov says Premier League clubs such as Arsenal missed a trick by not buying team-mate Gary Cahill.
Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere has given his approval by retweeting a fan-created Twitter photo, poking fun at Arsenal teammate Andrey Arshavin’s lack of height compared to deadline day signing Per Mertesacker, says the Metro – see the pic here.
Talking of the boy wonder, he will be live on the phone with Ian Wright from 5.45pm on Absolute Radio extras ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Live’. DAB Digital Radio, 1215AM and online in the UK www.absoluteradio.co.uk/extra  – may be worth tuning in to see what he makes of our new recruits.
Now for a plug for a mate of mine who along with some other old skool Arsenal have a Gooner band – The Riders of the Night – and the lads have a new CD out, entitled, Kerb Crawler. Well worth a listen and funny as you like for obvious reasons.  Check out their deets here…the online Shop to buy the CD, or you can download  from iTunes.
I urge you to have a listen.
More news as it breaks. Yeah, right.
