Arsenal take on Burnley in their 10th Premier League game of the season.

The Gunners have had an incredible start to the new campaign. They are currently on top of the Premier League table, six points above Manchester City and seven clear of Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta’s men are in the driving seat to win the title this season, which is worthy of praise. However, everyone outside Arsenal has been busy criticising them and calling them a set-piece team.

Burnley manager Scott Parker, who has been analysing the Gunners ahead of their game on Saturday, thinks otherwise.

Scott Parker disagrees with the narrative about Arsenal

Arsenal are the best team in the world with respect to set-pieces.

Nicolas Jover has completely transformed the Gunners over the last few years, so much so that teams are scared every time the North Londoners win a corner or a free kick.

However, the narrative from certain pundits and rival fans in recent weeks has been that Arsenal can only score from set-pieces and are over-reliant on them.

That is lazy analysis from people who don’t really watch the Gunners play.

Those who do watch and analyse Arsenal know that they are dominant in every phase of the game – just ask Parker.

He said about the league leaders ahead of Burnley’s clash against Arteta’s side, as relayed on HaytersTV: “I’m not sure I see it like that when I’m watching them, to be honest with you.

“I see a fluid team, an unbelievably well-coached team, a team that solves situations. Of course, (set pieces) are one of many elements. But this is definitely not a team that just relies on set-plays.

“Obviously, over the course of the start of this season, there have been key moments when they have got wins from set-plays, but this is a well-oiled team and a functional team. They are very fluid in the way they play, really.”

Calling Arsenal a set-piece team or comparing them to Stoke City is just really silly.

The Gunners don’t sit back all game and then try to nick a goal from a corner. They dominate every single team they play against.

Even Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City parked the bus against Arsenal – that’s how dominant they are in every phase of the game.

Arsenal fans should not care about the narratives around their club.

They should enjoy the fact that they are on top of the table and are the favourites to win the Premier League and Champions League this term.
