Not everyone was left impressed by Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta’s side cruised to claim three points from PSG at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
The win handed Arsenal their first victory of the 2024/25 Champions League format, building on their opening-day draw against Atalanta.
In North London, the Gunners flexed their maturity against Luis Enrique’s young PSG side, with plenty of positives to take from the win.

Simon Jordan not overly impressed by Arsenal’s win over PSG
In the first half, Arsenal went at PSG with a fearless edge, scoring twice before the interval through Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
The maturity of Arteta’s squad then shone through in the second half, as the hosts defended their lead to earn the win and a clean sheet.
It was a complete performance from the Gunners against last season’s Champions League semi finalists however, not everyone was blown away by Arsenal.
Speaking in reaction to the result on talkSPORT, pundit Simon Jordan downplayed the squad’s achievement by referencing Newcastle United’s win over PSG last term.
Asked if it was a statement win for Arsenal, Jordan replied, “I don’t know, ask Newcastle, they smashed them 4-1 in the Champions League.”
The Magpies of course beat PSG in the group stage last season before being eliminated from the competition, with Jordan explaining that overcoming the Ligue 1 leaders is something Arsenal ‘should’ be doing.
“There is a distinct difference between the quality of Ligue 1 and the Premier League, I think if Arsenal played in Ligue 1, they would win Ligue 1.
“I think PSG are beautiful on the outside and not a lot going on inside, not a lot of substance, they win a league that is not that competitive.
“Arsenal did what they should do, they’re a very good side, in very good nick. They should beat PSG at home.”
There are few arguments to be had over Jordan’s stance on the victory, with his assessment ringing true, it was a game that Arsenal should be winning given their current form.
Arsenal got the job done in the Champions League
Regardless of opinion, Arsenal won the fixture and earned three points in the tournament, building on their unbeaten start to the season.
From the opening nine games in all competitions, the Gunners are yet to be beaten, recording six wins and three draws.
Dismissing the differences between PSG and Arsenal regarding the quality of domestic leagues, Arteta’s side can only beat what’s in front of them, which they achieved on a thrilling night under the lights at the Emirates.
Further challenges will test the North Londoners in the near future, with the PSG result building confidence amongst Europe’s elite as well as representing a victory against star-studded opposition.
