Arsenal star Declan Rice delivered yet another fantastic performance as his side beat Bournemouth 4-0, but he has singled out one of his teammates for praise.

Mikel Arteta’s side were back to their best as they secured a big win on the road, with Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Ben White getting onto the scoresheet.

Havertz’s goal was particularly significant, as it was his first since joining from Chelsea, and Rice has now praised his fellow summer signing.

Rice praises Havertz

Speaking after the game, Rice claimed that Havertz’s goal was a special moment, and that the German international deserved his goal after working so hard in training.

“It was emotional, for the fans, for Kai, for everyone involved, because we want him to succeed so much,” Rice stated.

“Honestly, he works his socks off every day in training. In games he gives absolutely everything.

“He’s had chances to score this year, hadn’t scored yet, but today to slot away a penalty in that high pressure moment, shows the mindset that he’s got, shows the talent he’s got and his all-round performance was so special, I’m so happy for him.”

Rice and Havertz could not have had two more contrasting starts to their Arsenal careers. Despite both arriving as experienced Premier League players from London sides, Rice adapted instantly and has quickly become a fan favourite, whilst Havertz has initially struggled in North London.

Havertz is clearly well-liked by his teammates, and it is now hoped that his goal against Bournemouth can boost his confidence, propelling him into a good run of form.

His penalty was a nice moment which saw his teammates enthusiastically celebrate, and from Rice’s words it is evident that the squad have recognised his lack of confidence and are doing their best to help him settle.
