It seems like a lifetime ago when Arsenal were eager on French midfielder Christopher Nkunku.
Now at RB Leipzig, the former PSG star was the talk of the town amongst Gooners. Reports in January 2019 claimed that Arsenal were eager to sign Nkunku.
However, as we know, the deal never materialised. Arsenal instead signed Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona on loan in what could be argued as one of the worst transfers in the history of the club.
Indeed, Unai Emery was eager to bring Nkunku to north London. And last night, the midfielder had a performance to remember as the French ace hit a hat-trick against Manchester City.
Leipzig lost 6-3 to the Premier League champions. But for Nkunku, it was a standout night for the 23-year-old, who scored his first professional hat-trick on the evening.
And as you would expect, Arsenal fans on social media couldn’t help but think what if Emery had landed his man in January 2019.
