Arsenal will host bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Spurs star Son Heung-min is certainly confident heading into the north London derby.
Tottenham have started the new season well, and look to be enjoying life under new manager Ange Postecoglou. Due to this, Son believes the timing of this weekend’s derby clash suits Spurs.
As quoted by The Mirror, the 31-year-old forward said, “it’s going to be a really difficult game but they won’t want to face us at this time. We just have to give it everything we have and it will be in a difficult game for both sides. But we’re looking forward to this game because it’s the right time to play against them.”
Arsenal will still feel like favourites
Tottenham have good reason to feel confident, but so do the Gunners. Both Arsenal and Spurs have taken 13 points from the first five matches of the Premier League season and are unbeaten. However, Arsenal will go into the game boosted by their 4-0 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
This advantage may be offset by the extra preparation time that Tottenham have had, given they failed to quality for any European competitions this season.
Arsenal also have the advantage of playing in front of their own fans. The atmospheres at the Emirates Stadium have been electric in recent times and there will be another raucous reception for the players this weekend.
