Alan Brazil believes that Kai Havertz is running out of time to prove his worth at Arsenal.

Since his £65 million move from Chelsea to Arsenal in the recent summer transfer window, Kai Havertz has failed to capture the imagination of the Emirates Stadium faithful.

The German looks short on confidence, and uncomfortable with what is being asked of him tactically by Mikel Arteta, who has regularly deployed Havertz in an unfamiliar midfield role. The 24-year-old has looked at his best for the Gunners on the rare occasions when he has been tasked with leading the line.

Havertz is now sixteen games into his Arsenal career. So far, he has scored one goal and laid on one assist for the north London club. His solitary strike came from the penalty spot.

Following his early struggles, the former Chelsea man has recently fallen out of the regular starting eleven. Given the nod by Arteta to start against West Ham United in an EFL Cup fixture on Wednesday evening, Havertz needed to impress.

However, the 40-cap Germany international once again struggled. Whilst he made runs and tried to make things happen, nothing came off for him, as his first touch was poor and his confidence deserted him.

Kai Havertz must step up now

As things stand, Arsenal fans are still singing his name, and willing him to come good. That relationship between the fans and the player could soon turn, though, if Havertz isn’t able to improve his form.

talkSPORT pundit Alan Brazil certainly believes that time is of the essence for Havertz to show why he was worth the Gunners’ hefty summer investment in him. He said, “I know he’s struggling, he might be all right internationally, but in the Premier [League] he is struggling. And I think his time’s limited.”

Of course, in terms of his contract, there is plenty of time for Havertz to come good for the Gunners. Now, though, the £280,000-a-week ace is currently in danger of being labeled a flop, though, which would reflect poorly on the player, Arteta, and the club.
