What a difference four months can make in football. Back in August after Arsenal won the FA Cup, you would have bet good money on Mikel Arteta’s side finishing in the top four of the 2020/21 Premier League season.
The Gunners started the campaign with a trophy as well, winning the Community Shield against Liverpool. We smashed Fulham in their own backyard on the opening day of the season and that raised the expectations even more.
We signed a quality defender in Gabriel Magalhaes and a world-class midfielder in Thomas Partey. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also extended his contract and that made us a lot stronger than we were last term – or so we thought.
Arsenal’s league campaign has been a disaster so far. We haven’t won a game since the start of November and that has pushed us down to 15th in the table, just four points above the drop zone.
Talks of a relegation battle have been floating around the media. New West Brom boss Sam Allardyce has been pretty vocal about Arsenal’s problems on the pitch this week.
He claims that we are in the same relegation scrap side as his side, and sadly, our recent performances have been like that of a team fighting to avoid the drop.
Supercomputer predicts where Arsenal will finish
Sun Sport, with a help of a supercomputer, have made a bold prediction over where Arsenal will end up in the Premier League table at the end of this season.
The result reveals that we will finish the campaign in 16th, one place worse than where we are at the moment. That is absolutely abysmal for a team like Arsenal, but at least we aren’t going down.
It has to be said that this is just a calculated guess and it shouldn’t be taken seriously. Arsenal could well go down or recover miraculously and finish in the top four. Anything is possible but considering how bad we are at the moment, 16th sounds about right
