Fabio Vieira’s time on loan at FC Porto moves from strength to strength, as his latest display with the side showed exactly what the Arsenal star is capable of.

The midfielder had something of a slow start to his return with the Portuguese outfit, having to pick up some momentum once again.

He did manage just that though, with the midfielder starting to pull the strings with goals and assists to help Porto climb up the league.

That was until the previous week, when Fabio Vieira picked up a yellow card ban for Porto’s clash with Braga, leaving him out of an important match that his side lost.

While the Arsenal loanee missed out then, he looked to put it right when Porto took on AVS in another league clash.

Portuguese media rave about Fabio Vieira’s return for Porto

Fabio Vieira has pulled the strings for Porto in recent weeks and his absence from the Braga defeat was sorely missed.

A return against AVS provided the perfect environment for the midfielder to show exactly what he can do for his side.

Vieira came back with a bang, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win at home, securing an important three points in the context of the race for Champions League football.

The Portuguese media raved about his return, with A Bola stating: “Another return that was much welcomed by Porto fans. The team had lost its creativity at Pedreira, but the return of the number 10 brought back some judgement and organisation in the final third.”

On the goal he went on to score, the report added: “The smile would really come out in the second half, with a piece of supreme quality: a cross from the left by Francisco Moura and a first-time shot from the left-hander [Vieira], close to the penalty spot, to seal the final result.”

It notched up Vieira’s fourth goal of the league season, finally putting together the run of form that he has needed to show.

Arsenal must reconsider Fabio Vieira transfer exit

It’s fair to say that this summer reaches another crunch point for Fabio Vieira, where decisions will have to be made over his future.

The playmaker has struggled in his time in the Premier League, though it has come with a lack of opportunities at times.

With injuries surrounding the squad this season, there were times when they could’ve done with Vieira available.

Given the quality he has shown this season on loan, perhaps it’s time to reconsider where the Portuguese star has a place in the side.

That may not be in a huge capacity, but it could prove a key difference in some moments, not least this season.
