Arsenal have had a lot of players impress on the International stage in the past, both at World Cups as well as continental tournaments.
There are eleven current Arsenal stars competing at Euro 2024, and the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz will be hoping to play crucial roles for their countries.
In the past, Arsenal have had several winners of the competition, as well as players who have lit up the tournament either whilst at the club, before they joined or after they left.
The Team of the Tournament awards are a good measure of competition performance on an individual level, with some players from smaller nations earning a spot in the side, and 13 players in the past have been named in these teams after European Championships.
Arsenal’s current squad will be hoping to emulate them, whilst Mikel Arteta may be eyeing up any potential transfer targets who could follow the footsteps of some of these 13 past stars.
Players who were named in Euro Team of the Tournament whilst at Arsenal
David Seaman was Arsenal’s number-one goalkeeper when he was named in the Euro 1996 Team of the Tournament. The England star helped his side reach the semi-final, but they lost to Germany on penalties after Gareth Southgate missed from the spot. Seaman saved two penalties in the tournament, including a winning shootout save against Spain in the quarter-final, and was lauded for his displays as he played every minute.
Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry were part of a winning France side at Euro 2000, whilst both were also thriving under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. Sylvain Wiltord scored a stoppage-time equaliser before David Trezeguet scored the Golden Goal winner, but whilst Wiltord did then move to Arsenal a few weeks later, he did not join Henry and Vieira in the Team of the Tournament.
Euro 2004 saw England lose to hosts Portugal on penalties, but defenders Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole, who had won the Premier League as Invincibles just months before, were included in the Team of the Tournament.
Spain began their dynasty of dominance as they won Euro 2008, and Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, who enjoyed a stunning season at club level, was included in the Team of the Tournament alongside Barcelona legends Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
Fabregas is the only player on this list to feature in the Team Of The Tournament in back-to-back campaigns, as he was named in the 2012 edition as Spain won again, albeit whilst at Barcelona.
Wales stunned everyone when they reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, and Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey was outstanding, recording the joint-most assists with four, including two in the quarter-final, but a yellow card suspension ruled him out of the semis. His side were beaten by Portugal, and he could only watch from the sidelines, but he earned a deserved place in the Team of the Tournament.
Arsenal players who were named in Euro Team of the Tournament whilst at other clubs

Dennis Bergkamp was a world superstar when he joined Arsenal in 1995, and he was particularly notable for his contributions in the Dutch National Team. He scored in the semi-final against Denmark, but his side were defeated on penalties, with Denmark going on to win the trophy.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech was outstanding for the Czech Republic in 2004, but they lost to eventual winners Greece in the semi-final. This did earn him a move to Chelsea, where he became a Premier League great before joining Arsenal in 2015 for a far less impressive four-year spell.
Euro 2008 saw two eventual Arsenal attackers shine. Andrei Arshavin delivered such a strong campaign as Russia reached the semi-finals, with a man-of-the-match performance in both knockout rounds leading to it, that he was shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or. This then led to a move to Arsenal in January 2009, as one of the highest-profile arrivals the club had seen at the time.
Lukas Podolski enjoyed a fine campaign for Germany, with three goals and two assists as his side reached the final, and the attacker was quickly becoming a key figure in International football despite a difficult spell at Bayern Munich, which led to a move to Arsenal in 2012 from FC Koln.
Euro 2012 again saw Germany perform well as they reached the semi-finals, and then Real Madrid superstar Mesut Ozil was one of the best players at the tournament. The midfielder was the top assister, with three including two in the quarter-final, whilst he also scored against Italy as Germany lost the semi-final. He had become one of the best players in the world, and completed a club-record move to Arsenal a year later.
Italy broke England hearts when they won the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium on penalties, and then-Chelsea star Jorginho was excellent throughout the tournament. Having also won the Champions League, he earned a place on the Ballon d’Or podium. He has since become a key figure under Mikel Arteta, with his winning experience evident in his intelligent displays.
