If you haven’t heard already, Barcelona are in dire straits financially, and Arsenal could take advantage by signing Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona financial troubles can help Arsenal
The Catalan giants are in a hole and need to get rid of an extra €200m (£170.9m) in wages before they can register players.
It comes despite a mass clear-out already this summer. Junior Firpo, Trincao, Konrad de la Fuente and Jean-Clair Todibo have already left the club. Meanwhile, Juan Miranda has joined Real Betis on a free transfer.
What it means is the likes of Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero can’t play in La Liga, unless the criteria is met.
The situation provides clubs all across Europe with a huge opportunity to sign some Barcelona players.
Not least Arsenal, who are in somewhat of a financial crisis themselves. The Gunners had to borrow money from the UK government to solve issues from the Coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, the club need to sell players before they can buy this summer.
Coutinho would be a good signing for Arsenal
However, with Barcelona in such a mess, there is one player Arsenal can target.
A number 10 is a crucial addition to the north London giants this window. And in Coutinho, they have a stand-out attacker who will rapidly improve the side.
For starters, the Brazilian would cost just €25m (£21.4m) for interested parties if you believe the latest reports on Football Espana.
And after his spell with Liverpool, it’s hard to argue over what sort of impact the ace can have.
His quality on the ball and strike from distance would add a great threat to a club lacking a spark in the final third.
The issues of Barcelona could well be a god-send for Arsenal, who have a chance to sign Coutinho at cut-price.
