It has been a few days since Arsenal and Manchester City faced each other, but that game is still in the headlines.

The Gunners went to the Etihad in search of a win and even took a 2-1 lead after coming from behind. However, Leandro Trossard’s red card changed the game.

Arsenal had to defend resolutely in the second half to protect their lead and they almost did it. But, a late John Stones goal broke the Gunners’ hearts.

Several Manchester City players have since publicly expressed their displeasure about Arsenal’s playing style.

What one Arsenal player has said about Manchester City in a private text message

Many Manchester City players were really frustrated after the game against Arsenal because they struggled to break the Gunners down.

Bernardo Silva has had a public rant about Arsenal, while last-minute goalscorer John Stones has described the Gunners as ‘dirty’.

Even Manuel Akanji has had a pop at Arsenal.

The Daily Mail have now revealed the Gunners’ side of the story following the controversial draw at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday.

The feeling inside Arsenal is the City’s complaints after the game suggest they are ‘rattled’, and that has been evident for a few days now.

One unnamed Arsenal player even reportedly sent a text message saying: “They are fuming!”

Arsenal have well and truly got under City’s skin – we have never seen them react like this after dropping points in the past. This just proves that the Gunners are heading in the right direction.

Manchester City’s complaints make no sense – here’s why

It makes us laugh that the likes of Silva, Akanji and Stones have all publicly had a rant on Arsenal’s style of play in the second half at the Etihad.

What did they want the Gunners to do? Play expansive football with 10 men, give City the space they needed to hurt Arsenal and hand them the victory?

That would’ve been a foolish thing to do!

City’s frustrations and complaints stem from two things – one is that they couldn’t break down a 10-man team at home and the other is that they now feel Arsenal breathing down their necks in the Premier League title race.

What makes their comments look even more silly is the fact that it was City who were celebrating at the end of the game – not Arsenal.

The biggest takeaway from the game that almost everyone is ignoring is that Arteta’s men are getting closer to winning the title and Manchester City don’t like it.
