Former Arsenal hero Theo Walcott was perhaps one of the more underrated wingers at the club in recent years, and he has now picked his favourites.
Walcott retired from football at the end of last season, and spent the majority of his career at Arsenal, joining as a teenager before going on to score over 100 goals in over 11 years.
The former England International spent most of his career on the wings, with occasional stints as a centre-forward, and was renowned for his deadly pace going forward.
He has now shared who his favourite wingers on either side are, and naturally, he has named two Arsenal stars as some of the best in the world in the position.
Theo Walcott names Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli as best wingers in the World
Speaking to ESPN, Walcott was asked who he thinks “the three best wingers in the World right now” are, and he named Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah and Gabriel Martinelli as his choices.
“I went for Saka, I went for Salah,” he stated for his top two.
“This is the one that could be questioned for I suppose a lot of people, because I’m struggling to think of wingers, but I like wingers who are quite positive. Gabriel Martinelli, I really like.”
Walcott was then asked if he though Crystal Palace star, and reported Arsenal target Michael Olise was worthy of being included alongside such big names.
“Olise’s not a controversial pick at all. He just needs time,” Walcott added.
Are Arsenal’s Saka and Martinelli among the best wingers in the world?

Saka is not a controversial pick at all when it comes to naming the best wingers in the world. His output this season has seen him score 16 and assist 13 times in all competitions, and he has one of the best goals and assist returns in the Champions League in this campaign.
He is also one of the most well-rounded wingers of his age in Europe in recent years, ranking above the likes of Leroy Sane and Mario Gotze’s best campaigns before 23 in several key stats.
Martinelli’s performances last season, which saw him score 15 non-penalty league goals, could have placed him into these conversations, but his output has fallen off a bit in this season.
He has been brilliant at times, and decisive in big games, but there have been several below-par displays from the winger, including in Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Porto, which have attracted criticism.
Saka and Mohamed Salah are perhaps the best two choices on the right wing, but there are arguably several other candidates on the left above Martinelli for now, including Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
