Theo Walcott has named Bukayo Saka as his favourite player to watch in the Premier League, but the Arsenal star is not the one he would’ve loved to play with.

The former Gunner spent more than a decade at the Emirates under Arsene Wenger and scored over 100 goals for the club.

Walcott has now become a pundit, and he has recently been speaking about Arsenal and many of their players.

When asked to name the player he would’ve loved to share the pitch with, he named Martin Odegaard.

Theo Walcott says he would’ve loved to play with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard

Theo Walcott played with several incredible players at Arsenal.

From the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri early on to Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla in his prime years as a Gunner, he had the opportunity to be fed by outstanding playmakers.

Attacking midfielders like the ones named above are a dream for every forward, which is why Walcott has now claimed that he would have loved to play with Arsenal captain Odegaard and Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes.

That is not really surprising when you think about it. However, in the same interview on Stansport, the former Arsenal number 14 named Bukayo Saka as his favourite player to watch right now.

“I just love how gifted he is as a winger, and he does a bit of everything,” Walcott said about the Arsenal right-winger.

“He’s an incredible athlete and role model.”

While speaking about the players he would’ve loved to play with, he added: “There are two. It would’ve been Martin Odegaard, but Bruno Fernandes, I just think in that 10 role, he is one of the best in world football.

“I feel like we would’ve connected really well.”

The Bruno Fernandes vs Martin Odegaard debate is not ageing well

In the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Odegaard was absolutely unbelievable for Arsenal and was viewed by many as the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League.

There were constant debates between Gooners and Manchester United fans about who’s better – the Norwegian or Fernandes.

Arsenal supporters had enough data to back their skipper, but since the start of last season and especially in this campaign, the Manchester United star has been better.

Odegaard really needs to get back to his best in the business end of the season to be worthy of being in the same conversation as Fernandes.

If he does, Arsenal will likely win the Premier League.
