Arsenal beat French champions Paris Saint-Germain in their second Champions League game of this season.
Mikel Arteta became the first Arsenal manager to beat PSG in the Champions League, and he managed to do it quite comfortably.
The Gunners were simply on another level compared to the Ligue 1 giants. They weren’t even at their best but still managed to secure a straightforward victory.
Thierry Henry was impressed with his former side, but he has laid out a new demand to Arteta and Arsenal in this season’s Champions League.
Thierry Henry issues a challenge to Arsenal
Arsenal have been one of the best teams in Europe over the last two seasons.
Arteta has built a terrific squad at the Emirates, and his side have produced some truly incredible performances.
Arsenal have been magnificent home and away in the Premier League since the start of the 2022/23 season, but their away form in Europe hasn’t particularly been great.
That is not sustainable in Europe and Henry knows that very well.
Speaking on CBS Sports after the game, Henry claimed that he expected Arsenal to beat PSG at the Emirates. He challenged the Gunners to do the same away from home against a side like Inter Milan, who they will face in November.
Henry said: “I think, for me, it’s normal right now that Arsenal beat Paris Saint-Germain at home, especially that Paris Saint-Germain side, no disrespect to them. I want to win like that away from home against Paris Saint-Germain or whoever is going to come your way.
“Go to Inter and win strong. Be strong defensively. I want that type of win away from home. Then I can talk and be loud as an Arsenal fan and say: ‘Hey, we can win in Europe’.
“Listen, I didn’t win with Arsenal in Europe. But, I’m saying to you, a proper statement win would be to do that away from home.”

Arsenal’s away record in the Champions League is dreadful
One of the biggest improvements we’ve seen at Arsenal under Arteta is the performances away from home in the Premier League. The Gunners have been absolutely sensational.
However, in the Champions League, things have been very different.
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, Arsenal have played six away games in Europe’s biggest club competition and have won just once. That came against Sevilla last year.
The North Londoners have scored just four goals in those six games and half of them came against the Spanish side at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
Arsenal’s next away game in the Champions League is against Inter Milan. It is a very tough place to go to, but if the Gunners can pick up a win at the San Siro, it would be a huge statement.
