Thierry Henry has now been complimenting the magical left foot of one of his old Arsenal teammates who he enjoyed fond memories with.

It’s never a bad time to remind Arsenal fans of Henry’s glorious record at the club, a player who scored 228 goals in 377 games under Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman won three league titles with Arsenal, three FA Cups and the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions.

Henry remains the best player in the club’s history, and in truth, it may always stay that way – even if Bukayo Saka is doing brilliant things in the modern era.

All that being said, Henry has now been complimenting his old teammate Emmanuel Petit when building his perfect French footballer.

Petit doesn’t quite have the same notoriety around North London as Henry, but he was still an exceptional player in the club’s history.

And when crafting his ultimate French footballer for Foot Mercato over the international break, Henry decided that Petit had the best left foot of his compatriots.

Thierry Henry says old Arsenal teammate Emmanuel Petit had an incredible left foot

Henry was asked to choose the best French player in the following categories: right foot, left foot, header, speed, strength, passing, technique, defence, finisher and football IQ.

The Arsenal man understandably chose himself in the ‘speed’ category, and otherwise most responses were dominated by either David Trezeguet or Zinedine Zidane.

But Henry did choose his old Arsenal teammate Petit’s left foot, and ode to how he used to control play in the middle of the park.

Of course, Arsenal did eventually sell both Marc Overmars and Petit in a joint deal to Barcelona for around £30m, with the Frenchman thought to be worth £8m of the total sum.

It’s interesting to consider which of Mikel Arteta’s current Arsenal players has the best left-foot at the club these days.

Perhaps the lesser-mentioned Robin van Persie would have won the award in years gone by, but that’s now surely a crown that would be taken by either Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka.

Saka is incredible on both sides, but it does still seem that his left is slightly stronger.

All that being said, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has been making some comments about Saka before this weekend’s huge Premier League tie.
