Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Real Madrid was a statement, but the tie is far from over for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side stunned Europe as Arsenal beat Real Madrid at the Emirates to take a three-goal lead to the Santiago Bernabeu. 

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final will be decisive, emphasising the need for the Gunners to replicate the highs they produced in N5. 

Ian Wright has already sent Arsenal a warning ahead of the second leg, in a contest that must be considered a clean slate in Madrid.

Thierry Henry’s warning to Arsenal about Aurelien Tchouameni

A handful of Real Madrid players admitted they were wounded by Arsenal, but if there’s one thing about the Galacticos, it’s that nothing can be ruled out. 

The comeback kings will head into the second leg with a level of confidence in front of the Bernabeu, with one return to the squad set to make a big difference.

Real Madrid had several players ruled out of the first leg, and one will make his return in the second, as Aurelien Tchouameni will be available after his suspension. 

The midfielder, who Los Blancos signed for £85m in 2022, will return at a perfect time following Eduardo Camavinga’s red card at the Emirates, being a player who will provide much more than merely cover.

Thierry Henry is aware of Tchouameni’s importance to the Madrid squad, as the Arsenal legend was taken aback by the Frenchman’s mentality after the 2024 Champions League final. 

“Aurelien Tchouameni came earlier to me and I said, ‘Congratulations, Look, you’ve won your first one’ and he went, ‘Yeah, I won my first one but some of the guys here have won 6. I need to go back to work,” Henry revealed.

The Arsenal icon knows just how significant Tchouameni’s winning mentality could be to Madrid, with history only telling how important the midfielder is to his club.

Throughout the 2023/24 campaign, Real Madrid never lost a game when Tchouameni started, telling of the Champions League winner’s stature. 

It’s expected that the 25-year-old defensive midfielder will walk into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI against the Gunners, replacing Camavinga, who will be suspended.

Thomas Partey and Declan Rice will be met with a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park, giving Arsenal another thing to be mindful of at the Bernabeu.
