Mikel Arteta was once an enemy at Arsenal due to his work with Manchester City, and now, Thierry Henry is aiding Pep Guardiola’s side.
Guardiola knew Arteta had to leave Man City to join Arsenal when he was offered the managerial job in 2019.
After a difficult start, the Gunners haven’t looked back since replacing Unai Emery with the Spaniard, whose team currently sit top of the Premier League table.
Though Arsenal are many pundits’ favourites to win the league this season, there is still so much up for grabs, with Liverpool and Man City more than capable of remaining on Arteta’s trail.

Manchester City star Jeremy Doku reveals the advice he’s received from Thierry Henry
Right now, Man City look like Arsenal’s biggest problem because of Erling Haaland, who is unstoppable.
Haaland is the only player to score against the Gunners from open play this season, but he’s not the only Man City star Arteta’s players need to worry about.
Already this season, Haaland has combined for three goals with Jeremy Doku, who has been incredible since the campaign kicked off.
Guardiola will be delighted that the forward is finding his feet in the Premier League, something he’ll need to thank Thierry Henry for.
Speaking to CBS Sports after City’s win over Borussia Dortmund, Doku revealed that he often speaks to the Arsenal legend for tips.
“It comes naturally, and I also speak with a legend that sometimes helps me as well,” he said.
Henry responded by putting paper over his face, groaning, “Why do you have to blow my cover?”
Naturally, the CBS team wanted to delve deeper into what Henry has been doing to influence Doku, with the player not holding back when sharing what’s been said behind the scenes.
“Nobody really talks to me about my one-v-ones, but he was the first person ever to talk to me about my one-v-ones and how I can be better and effective in even the last phase,” Doku said, reflecting on when Henry was assistant manager of the Belgium national team.
“Many people say to me, ‘Jeremy, you need to be more statistics, more statistics’, but how?
“They don’t tell me how, and he really talks to me about how, and that’s the first time, and I appreciate that.”
Doku credited Henry for unlocking his one-versus-one ability, something that is now terrorising the Premier League and something that could threaten Arsenal in the title race.
Henry has also given Bukayo Saka advice
Arsenal fans might be quietly hoping that Henry stops giving Doku advice, as the Gunners are desperate to beat Man City and Liverpool to the title.
It’s just how Arsenal’s record goalscorer is, however, as he shares words with many players, including Bukayo Saka.
Speaking to Sky Sports [04/10/25] after Saka scored on his 200th appearance for Arsenal, the winger revealed that he also receives messages from Henry.
“He messages me a lot and I message him too. I’m just really grateful to have that relationship because we all know who he is and what he’s done in the game, especially for this club as well.
“I don’t think there’s anyone better to learn from. It’s a pleasure every time I get to learn from him and get to listen to him and give me some advice.”
Henry had enough talent in his playing career to share around, but the advice is not exclusive to Arsenal.
