Thierry Henry has admitted he has concerns over Arsenal’s attack compared to their Premier League title rivals.

After losing against Aston Villa on Saturday, Arsenal slipped down to second in the table, one point adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Whilst Mikel Arteta’s side are firmly in the race for the title, concerns have emerged over their lack of firepower in attack.

Their front three of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus aren’t delivering goals at the rate they did last season.

Between them the trio have scored nine goals in the Premier League and considering they finished on 40 respectively in 2022/23, that is a rapid decline.

Of course, such a decrease in output has seen many calls for Arsenal to sign a world-class striker and until that happens, concerns over their lack of firepower will be rife.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, who never had an issue with putting the ball in the back of the net, has echoed that sentiment.

Thierry Henry issues his concern over Arsenal’s lack of firepower

Speaking to CBS Sports on Paramount+ (13/12/23 at 7:40 pm), the Frenchman said: “If you take the front three that have been playing the last two Premier League games and more often than not”

“But if you think of the front three of Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham and look at our front three. You can take it two ways.

“You are saying, as an Arsenal fan, you are (second in the table) and the front three that maybe didn’t play all the time. We are nine goals (in total so far this season), so if we ever start to score goals, then we can win this league.

“Or you are saying, if they stay at the same pace, then it’s going to be difficult to win the Premier League. You need to find a way to score goals and kill teams. I hope as an Arsenal fan, they can reach that level.”

Henry has urged Arsenal to find their ruthless streak in front of goal and believes that if Saka, Martinelli and Jesus can get back to their relentless best, they can win the league.

Arsenal are finding other ways to score

After acquiring Kai Havertz and Declan Rice in the summer, there is less reliance on their trio up top to create and score chances to win Arsenal games.

In the Premier League this term, the Gunners have had 13 different scorers, which demonstrates how Arteta’s side are capable of scoring goals across the field.

Of course, it would be beneficial if they had a world-class focal point to make their life easier, but netting 33 goals in 16 games is hardly a record that suggests they are struggling to find the net.

Rice proved that he can become a match-winner for the club following his last-gasp winner over Luton Town while Havertz’s goal late on against Brentford turned a point into all three.

Whether the distinct lack of a clinical striker will cost Arsenal dearly in the title race remains to be seen, but considering they have found ways to score on numerous occasions this term, Arteta shouldn’t be too concerned.
