Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is among the greatest players to ever play the game.
The legendary striker won everything as a player, and his latest managerial stint with the French Olympics side was successful too – he won the silver medal.
Henry is one of the most popular pundits in the world now, and he often makes very insightful points. It’s always great to hear him speak about football.
However, one of Henry’s latest comments is very bizarre, and we think he has got it all wrong.
What Thierry Henry has said about Arsenal and Unai Emery
Unai Emery was the man of the moment in the Champions League on Wednesday night after his Aston Villa side picked up a win over Bayern Munich.
The Spaniard deserves all the praise in the world for the job he has done at Villa Park – his record speaks for itself.
Henry has claimed that he is a big admirer of Emery and his tactics and lavished praise on him following the game on Wednesday night.
We agree with that part, but Henry then decided to say that Emery would’ve brought success to Arsenal if the decision-makers had given him more time.
The Gunners sacked Emery in 2019 after a disastrous start to his second season. His tenure at the Emirates lasted just 18 months.
Henry said on CBS Sports: “He (Emery) is a tactical genius. He always goes out there and makes sure that his team has an advantage tactically because that’s how he operates. We all know what he did in Spain.
“It’s no disrespect to what Mikel Arteta is doing and he’s doing extremely well for Arsenal, but I just thought that if we kept him a bit longer he would have been a success at Arsenal.
“He did show it straight after when he left the club. I have massive respect for him.”

Henry couldn’t be more wrong about Arsenal and Emery
Every Arsenal fan will agree that Emery is a top-class manager.
The Spaniard’s record over the years at different clubs proves that he is very, very successful, but to say that Arsenal should’ve given him more time is just bizarre.
Emery was given 18 months before he was shown the door, and there were flaws from the first game until his last. Yes, the Spaniard led the Gunners to the Europa League final and deserves some praise for that, but they got battered in Baku and blew the opportunity to finish in the top four as well.
To add to that, the style of football Emery employed at Arsenal did not sit well with fans. It was against the identity of the club and even the games they won were difficult to watch at times.
Emery is a great manager, there’s no debate there. But, we think Arsenal were right to part ways with him. Henry’s take on the situation, in our opinion, couldn’t be more wrong.
