Thierry Henry played with some great players at Arsenal.
The legendary Frenchman had an unbelievable career. Not only was he a superstar at club level, but he won it all with his country on the international stage as well.
At Arsenal, Henry played and trained with legends like Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Tony Adams and Sol Campbell, among others.
However, there was another Arsenal legend that the French icon was a big fan of.
Thierry Henry shares how Robert Pires was in Arsenal training
Robert Pires was absolutely incredible for Arsenal when he was at his best.
The Frenchman changed the game for left-wingers with the way he played, and his quality made everyone around him better.
Even Thierry Henry has often admitted that Pires made his life easier, and Arsenal’s greatest ever goalscorer has heaped praise on him again.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Henry claimed that Pires was so ‘clever’ and that he was also undefeated in training games.
He said: “Robert Pires, people don’t understand how clever a player he was. Oh my God!
“You play with him in training, I don’t remember him losing a game in training. If you were with Robert Pires, you win.
“He could play now, obviously, the distance would be (a problem). The way he used to move, find positions and stuff like that, I was a bit the same.”
Robert Pires’ stats at Arsenal
Pires was, at times, unstoppable on the left wing at Arsenal.
The way he moved with the ball, cut inside, created chances for his teammates and scored goals were all incredible, and he was just a joy to watch.
The Frenchman played a big part in helping Arsenal win trophies during his six years at the club.
| Games | Goals | Assists | Trophies won | |
| Robert Pires at Arsenal | 284 | 84 | 63 | 5 |
Pires helped Arsenal win three FA Cups and two Premier League titles, including the 2003/04 Invincibles trophy.
The former winger doesn’t quite get the credit as the likes of Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira do, but he was a key part of that great side.
Arsenal could do with a player like Pires now.
