The title race is going to go to the bitter end, and the nerves are being felt around the entire Arsenal fanbase.

Indeed, there’s a palpable tension in the air around the Emirates at the moment, and while Arsenal are top of the Premier League, nobody is willing to consider the Gunners as title favourites right now.

Thierry Henry has never been shy when it comes to backing Arsenal, which is why his latest comments feel so different.

Speaking to Paulo le Sportix on TikTok, Henry was asked about Arsenal’s chances this season, and he gave an uncharacteristic answer.

Simple question: Would you rather be in Pep Guardiola or Mikel Arteta’s shoes right now?

Thierry Henry’s answer when asked if Arsenal will win a trophy

Asked whether Arsenal can win a trophy this season, Thierry Henry’s response was cautious.

“Listen, I’ll wait and speak when the time comes. For now, we support and we’ll see what we can achieve.”

On the surface, it is a neutral answer. In reality, it stands out because of how unlike Henry it is.

This is someone who has previously spoken with confidence, even certainty, about Arsenal’s chances in the title race. He has backed them strongly in the past, often leaning into bold predictions rather than holding back. That is what makes this shift in tone so noticeable.

Even before the season started, Henry tipped Arsenal to win the league with confidence. But now, his tone has changed.

Arsenal are in the middle of a defining period. Results have been inconsistent, performances have raised questions, and the pressure is building. In those moments, figures like Henry often reflect the mood around the club, even when they are trying not to.

The fact that even the great Thierry Henry’s confidence is wavering, even a tad, suggests that the nerves are spreading throughout everyone, not just the fanbase.

Mikel Arteta has a big job on his hands in terms of calming everything, and everyone, down, and a win against Fulham on Saturday evening will go a long way towards that.
