Arsenal and Manchester City will go head-to-head for the first piece of silverware on offer this season as the Carabao Cup final fast approaches.

The Gunners saw off Chelsea to book a visit to Wembley in the Carabao Cup final, where Pep Guardiola’s side will be waiting.

The cup final comes at a fascinating time amid the Premier League title race, with Man City tripping twice to watch Arsenal extend the distance between first and second.

While on paper, Arsenal are the better side heading into the final, Tim Sherwood isn’t ready to dismiss City’s chances of winning the cup on Sunday.

Tim Sherwood thinks Man City could beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final

Mikel Arteta has never lost a game at Wembley as either a player or a manager, giving the boss confidence heading into the final.

Of course, a serial winner like Guardiola will be confident too, but he’ll have to draw a line under City’s recent form.

In Sherwood’s eyes, there’s every chance of City causing Arsenal an upset under the arch.

“They play in the cup final against each other as well. I think Man City might win that one,” Sherwood said on Premier League Productions.

Before Arsenal fans fume at Sherwood’s comments, it’s important to note what the pundit said next.

“But I don’t see them winning the Premier League, I think that’s gonna be red and white ribbons on that cup, and very, very soon.”

The Carabao Cup final is going to be fascinating

Sherwood thinks the Premier League title is Arsenal’s, but fancies Man City to take home the Carabao Cup.

It’s a scenario that plenty of Arsenal fans would accept, but of course, the preference would be to win both.

That’s why the Carabao Cup final is so fascinating, as, at the time of writing, both sides are still able to win the quadruple.

The Carabao Cup is arguably the least desired trophy of the pack, but it’s become one of huge importance this season, given the psychological impact it could have on both Arsenal and City’s seasons.

Winning the cup could cement how strong Arsenal are this season; however, so could losing it.

If Arsenal failed to take home the trophy, the hunger to win the Premier League and other accolades would only rise.

It’s time to see England’s top two teams go head to head for silverware for the first time this season, but who will come out on top?
