Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit had a strong message for Jamie Carragher when assessing the Premier League title race.

The Gunners sit second in the table six points and a game in hand behind Liverpool, who are thriving under Arne Slot.

As talk of the Premier League title race heats up, even Mikel Arteta compared Arsenal to Liverpool, questioning the depth of his squad in comparison to the Reds.

At present, the title looks to be Liverpool’s to lose however, with 16 games still to play, Arsenal icon Emmanuel Petit thinks the race is far from over.

Emmanuel Petit makes bold Arsenal Premier League title prediction

Petit was a special guest on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football segment alongside Jamie Carragher to watch Wolves’ clash with Chelsea.

On the show, the Arsenal legend was unable to hold in his dissatisfaction over some of Carragher’s comments, as Petit shared his thoughts on the title race.

When asked if Arsenal can still win the Premier League, the World Cup winner’s answer was clear.

“Yes. I will tell you why because big games are coming back,” Petit said with confidence.

“Liverpool and other teams are dealing with so many competitions. Arsenal have so many injuries, they’re going to be back soon, they’re going to be fresh.

“They will only concentrate on the Champions League and the Premier League. They will make a turnover as well, there are so many reasons as well. I think you’re too confident Jamie.”

Petit urged Carragher to quieten his confidence regarding Liverpool’s position in the Premier League table, making a strong point for his former club to fight until the end.

Arsenal and Liverpool’s next five Premier League fixtures

There’s no denying that Liverpool are the team to beat in the Premier League this season however, Petit questioned how long the Reds can keep the momentum going.

With the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Champions League to also juggle over the next few weeks, Liverpool will truly be tested, as will Arsenal.

The Gunners face Wolves, Manchester City, Leicester City, West Ham and Nottingham Forest in their next five fixtures, games that Arsenal cannot afford to drop points in.

As for Liverpool, Slot’s side welcome Ipswich Town before facing tough away trips to Bournemouth and Everton, followed by facing Wolves and Man City.

The next few weeks could be crucial to the run to the title, as Arsenal have little room to drop more points given Liverpool’s form, however, as Petit stressed, the race is far from over.
