Arsenal have several top-class players in their squad.

The Gunners have challenged for the Premier League title in each of the last two seasons, and they are in the mix again this campaign.

That wouldn’t have been possible without great players, and Mikel Arteta has a squad equipped with many different skill sets.

Troy Deeney has hailed one of them following Arsenal’s emphatic win over Manchester City.

Troy Deeney says nobody sees the ‘horrible work’ Thomas Partey does for Arsenal

Thomas Partey is closing in on five full years at Arsenal.

The Ghana international joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day in 2020, and his time at the Emirates has been a mixed one.

Partey has had several injury issues at Arsenal. His absence has proved to be costly at times, but whenever he has been fit, the midfielder has mostly been exceptional.

Against Manchester City on Sunday, Partey was one of the best players on the pitch.

The 31-year-old protected the backline well, was composed in possession even under pressure and helped Arsenal in attacking transitions.

Deeney, however, was particularly impressed with the dirty work Partey did. The pundit has claimed that people don’t really notice that side of the game, but it is really important.

After including Partey in his Team of the Week on BBC Sport, Deeney wrote: “The goal was deflected but I feel he does all of the horrible work that no-one really sees.

“Intercepting Phil Foden was massive for the goal.”

Arsenal players show love to Thomas Partey after 5-1 win vs Man City

Partey had a really good game against Manchester City – it was arguably his best performance of the season.

The Ghanaian’s goal came at a really important time for the Gunners. He scored just seconds after Erling Haaland had equalised, and that deflated City’s players.

To add to that, Partey was magnificent with his all-round play in the middle of the park, especially when starting attacks from the back.

After the game, Partey received a lot of love from his teammates under his Instagram post.

Jurrien Timber wrote “My fav playaaa,” while Gabriel Magalhaes said: “What a player!”

In his Instagram Story, Rice called Partey ‘sensational’.
