According to a report from Sky Sports, Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac is wanted by AS Roma and Napoli in the January transfer window.

The Bosnian came in for free in the summer of 2017 but is on a £100,000-a-week deal (Spotrac) at the Emirates. Kolasinac has been hugely inconsistent, partly due to injuries which forced Arsenal to sign a new left-back in the summer.

However, Kieran Tierney’s long-term injury opened the door for the 26-year-old but his own fitness problems has forced him out until January. Arsenal now need Kolasinac more than ever but it wouldn’t be that bad an idea to cash in on him.

Arsenal are likely to be short on funds in January after spending heavily in the summer. The Gunners desperately need strengthening in central defence and possibly in midfield which will be expensive mid-season.

Kolasinac, whose contract runs till 2022, will bring in a decent amount considering his age and quality. The Bosnian would be fantastic in a league like the Serie A which isn’t as fast-paced as the English one.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has shown that he can play at left-back while Bukayo Saka has impressed in that position recently. That should be enough cover until Tierney returns in March and the club can reconsider their options in the summer.

Arsenal have to invest in a new centre-back and if Kolasinac’s sale helps us land a world-class one, it should be done. Raul Sanllehi and Edu along with Arteta have a massive job on their hands and the transfer window could determine our fate this season.
