Paris Saint-Germain’s German midfielder Julian Draxler spoke to Goal about the differences between former boss Unai Emery and Thomas Tuchel.
Emery bought Draxler from Wolfsburg in January 2017 and the 26-year-old played 72 times under the Spaniard. The World Cup winner directly contributed to 28 goals in that period but reveals that he wasn’t always comfortable.

Emery’s communication skills have been questioned on multiple occasions and his famous ‘Good Evening’ quote has been ridiculed by many. His unfamiliarity with the language could have played a major part in his failures so far and Draxler explains the same.
He said: “Under Unai Emery, I realised that playing abroad was different. I consider him a very good coach, but with him the communication was sometimes not that easy. When you talk to Thomas and he clearly tells you in two sentences in German what is good and what is not good, that is certainly an advantage.”

Unai Emery is on the bring of facing the sack at Arsenal after failing to win any of his last six games. Filling Arsene Wenger’s shoes was always going to be difficult and his communication problems have only made it harder.
The former PSG boss will lead the side against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday but that could be his last game. Arsenal have a huge task in hand in terms of finding a replacement but with the way things are going, a change is an absolute necessity.
