‘Unbelievable’ striker says he’d much rather sign for Arsenal than Chelsea now

One striker has turned his nose up at Chelsea when being asked to choose between the Blues and Arsenal.

When looking at the recent transfer dealings between the two clubs, an outsider would be shocked to learn that Arsenal and Chelsea are fierce rivals.

Arsenal have signed a list of players from Chelsea in the Premier League era, with many others having crossed paths with both clubs.

One player who had a stint at Chelsea after representing the Gunners was former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang had an unfortunate end to his Arsenal career, going from hero to zero in Mikel Arteta’s eyes after a disciplinary breach.

The Gunners came to the conclusion to terminate the Gabonese striker’s contract, which saw him move on to join Barcelona.

Months after signing for the Catalan giants, Aubameyang controversially returned to England, signing for Chelsea.

Arsenal fans were disappointed with Aubameyang, who signed for their rivals, but the bad blood wasn’t evident for long.

Things didn’t work out for the senior forward at Stamford Bridge, which triggered some sympathy from those at the Emirates, making his latest revelation unsurprising.

Taking part in a live chat on The Residency, Aubameyang was asked by a fan whether he’d prefer to return to Arsenal or Chelsea, if he had the choice. 

The former Arsenal captain needed just two words to reply to the question, saying, “Arsenal easy”.

A part of the Gabon international’s heart will always be in North London, as made clear by Aubameyang’s Arsenal tattoo.

Dubbed ‘unbelievable’ by Thomas Tuchel, Aubameyang is still a name spoken about in Europe’s top five leagues, completing a move to Marseille this summer after spending time in Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah. 

The striker is showing no signs of slowing down, having a series of high-scoring seasons, which, unironically, came after he left Chelsea.
