Mikel Arteta had planned to have Havertz as his main striker; however, injuries scuppered that idea, and instead, Gyokeres has been the main man.

The Swede’s brace on the weekend moved him to 21 goals for the season and demonstrates just how well he has played this season.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Atletico Madrid, the Swedish striker has been discussing his fellow strike partner.

Viktor Gyokeres calls Kai Havertz an ‘amazing player’

Viktor Gyokeres has labelled Kai Havertz an ‘amazing player’ and highlighted his importance in the Arsenal dressing room.

The former Chelsea striker’s season has been plagued by injury, but his value to Arteta’s team remains very high.

When asked about the striker, Gyokeres told Prime Sport Video: “Yeah, I think he’s an amazing guy and an amazing player.

“I enjoy playing with him and being around him in the dressing room because he has an amazing character, and I think he’s great on the pitch and off the pitch.”

Havertz has managed to play just 20 times for the Gunners this season, producing just five goals and four assists.

He missed the weekend’s win over Fulham with a new muscle injury but has returned to the bench for Tuesday’s clash with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.

Havertz’s injury record has been pretty poor over the last few years, and Arsenal may need to consider moving him on if they do hope to sign another striker in the summer window.
