Arsenal had many great battles with Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United in the past.
The Englishman had many ‘scary’ men at Old Trafford. Roy Keane was his captain in his early years there and he was terrifying, while Sir Alex Ferguson and his hairdryer treatment frightened many as well.
Having experienced playing under those two big names, not much should scare Rooney, but the Manchester United legend has added Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to that category.
Be honest. Do you think pundits treat Mikel Arteta differently compared to other managers?
Wayne Rooney says Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ‘scary’
Arteta has done a terrific job at Arsenal.
The Gunners boss took over a side who were comfortably the worst among the big six, but thanks to him, they are the best by a distance now.
Arsenal are on top of the Premier League and Champions League tables, are favourites to make it into the Carabao Cup final and are also expected to reach the latter stages of the FA Cup.

All that is down to Arteta’s tactics and management, but Wayne Rooney has now claimed that he also possesses an ‘aura’ that is ‘scary’.
Speaking on Amazon Prime Video Sport UK alongside Theo Walcott, the former England captain said: “He (Arteta) has got an aura about him, hasn’t he? He is scary!
“You look at him, you know that he is on it with every player every single day. He will be on it and wanting to get the best out of them players.
“He has got that aura about him.”
Will Mikel Arteta become Arsenal’s greatest-ever manager?
Mikel Arteta can be ‘scary’ to his own players
Arteta usually seems like a fun guy to be around, but the All or Nothing Amazon documentary showed that he can be terrifying as well.
The Arsenal manager lets his players know when he’s not happy. He is extremely demanding, and when someone is not up to the standards, a simple stare is enough to let them know.
That’s according to Rob Holding, who said on the Arsenal Vision Podcast recently: “I always think with Mikel, he has got this stare where you just know he’s serious, and it’s not good enough.
“I got that stare a few times, and anyone would be lying if they said they never got that look. He has got this very intimidating stare.”
That is the reason why Arsenal’s standards are so high and why they are among the best in the business now.
