Arsenal went six points clear of Man City with a win over Fulham this weekend and Wayne Rooney is backing the Gunners to go all the way.

City travel to Everton on Monday and must now keep winning to keep pace with Arsenal at the summit.

As we know, Pep Guardiola’s men are more than adept in getting over the line in a title race.

However, Rooney believes that it is Arsenal who will do it, as he suggested City will slip up.

Wayne Rooney backs Arsenal over Man City in Premier League title race

Rooney has backed Arsenal all season in fairness and hasn’t been swayed by the fact City are right in the hunt as well.

Indeed, the former Man United man is still backing the Gunners, believing the pressure has lapsed since their game at The Etihad.

“I think Arsenal will win it. I think, and I felt this after Man City beat Arsenal as well I felt that it was maybe in Arsenal’s heads having to go to Man City and then losing in the cup final too,” Rooney said on Match of the Day.

“But I think being there, level on points after that City defeat, I think the fixtures are more favourable for Arsenal. I think they will win every game and I can just see City slipping up.”

However, while Rooney backed Arsenal, fellow pundit Joe Hart disagreed.

“I don’t care who Arsenal are going to lose to, because I look at Man City, I look at their spine, their spine is so strong. It’s full of multiple winners, or people keeping multiple winners out of the team” Hart hit back.

“That is my spine I want to be behind in a title run-in. And don’t forget, the man behind it all, Pep Guardiola, is another multiple winner. I don’t think they will [drop anymore points]. I think they’ll do whatever needs to be done.”

With City facing Everton away, it feels like it needs to be this weekend or never for Arsenal to get a favour.

City’s fixtures after this weekend are favourable, with home ties against Crystal Palace, Brentford and Aston Villa all to come, albeit with a tricky trip to Bournemouth sandwiched in between.
