Wayne Rooney has claimed that Arsenal will feel nervous about the presence of Manchester City behind them in the Premier League title race.

It comes as the Gunners enter the international break at the top, but a late draw at Sunderland ensured their lead would be cut.

Manchester City’s huge win over Liverpool meant they were the team to take advantage, putting them back in the Premier League title race.

Just four points now separate Arsenal from Man City, with a familiar feeling creeping over the North London outfit.

There are still 27 games to go in the division, so there are plenty of twists and turns still to come.

However, Wayne Rooney believes that Man City will have Mikel Arteta’s side worried already.

Wayne Rooney claims Arsenal will be worried by Man City in the title race

The Premier League title race is starting to shape up nicely, after a few months of inconsistency at the top.

The only team who have shown some consistency are Arsenal, who cultivated quite a lead at the top.

However, the presence of Pep Guardiola and Man City will bring back a sense of deja vu, after missing out on the title to their rivals in recent seasons.

Rooney has claimed that it could be a worry for the Gunners, as he said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “Arsenal now, with obviously dropping points, would be looking over their shoulder and seeing [Manchester] City with Pep Guardiola behind you.

“Then I think that Arsenal would be a little bit nervous seeing the way City are playing.”

Arteta will be keen to avoid getting his team too emotionally invested in the title race at this point of the season, as plenty of twists and turns await.

The latest of those could come once again after the international break, with some tough games for Man City and Arsenal.

Brentford and Aston Villa both await in a busy start to December, while it remains to be seen whether Wolves could be transformed by the arrival of a new manager.

Manchester City have some tough fixtures to navigate, with a trip to Newcastle providing a challenge, even with their recent struggles.

Leeds and Fulham are yet to truly take off, but both are capable of causing their own problems.

Arsenal will be hopeful that Sunderland can cause a few problems the other way, before Crystal Palace look to make it difficult for City.

In all, there are no easy fixtures for either team, but momentum could go a long way for them in the coming weeks.
