Leandro Trossard suffered an injury during Arsenal’s win over Bayern Munich.
The Gunners were very good against the German giants. They dominated them in the second half and deservedly won the game.
The only negative from that fixture was seeing Trossard hobble off the pitch in the first half due to what appeared to be a calf injury.
Arsenal are worried about the extent of his issue.
Mikel Arteta on Leandro Trossard’s injury
Arsenal are scared that Leandro Trossard could be out for many weeks
Leandro Trossard has had a fine season.
The former Brighton man was many people’s pick to be sold in the summer, but Mikel Arteta was adamant that he was going nowhere.
That has proved to be the right decision, as Trossard has been Arsenal’s most underrated player this season.
In 11 starts in all competitions, the Belgian has directly contributed to 10 goals. He is a key player, but his injury has become a major concern.
The Mirror claim that Trossard is facing an anxious wait as the Gunners’ medical staff assess the extent of his injury.
The report says that Arsenal fear he could be out for a ‘number of weeks’, which would be a major blow ahead of the busy schedule coming up.
It remains to be seen how Arteta will replace him.
Who should replace Leandro Trossard on the left-wing?
Mikel Arteta could be tempted to start Noni Madueke in Leandro Trossard’s position
As mentioned in the TalkPoint above, Arsenal have multiple options to replace Trossard.
Gabriel Martinelli is the most obvious choice after his goal against Bayern midweek, while Eberechi Eze could also be moved to the left now that Martin Odegaard is fit again.
However, we think Arteta will be tempted to go with Noni Madueke on the left flank.
That’s because the Englishman will be playing against his former club on Sunday, and he will have that added motivation to do well.
It will be interesting to see who Arteta will pick, but we think it will be Madueke.
