There have been a few strange rumours going around that Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has had a falling out with his manager, Mikel Arteta.

The Norway international has been a Gunner since January 2021, when he initially joined the club on loan. That move was made permanent in the summer, and he was named the club captain a year later.

Odegaard has since led Arsenal well and earned the respect of every single one of his teammates. However, his recent form has led to speculation, not just about his future but also about his relationship with Arteta.

However, people inside the club have rubbished those claims.

There is no rift between Mikel Arteta and Martin Odegaard, and the Arsenal captain does not want to leave

Martin Odegaard and Mikel Arteta have always shared a great relationship at Arsenal.

The Spaniard made the midfielder his captain in his second full season and has since trusted him in the middle of the park.

Yes, Odegaard hasn’t been at his best this season, mainly due to injuries, but some of the speculation that followed was very strange.

Rumours on social media claimed that there’s a rift between Arsenal manager Arteta and Odegaard that will see the latter being sold in the summer.

Football London verified the above with their sources inside Arsenal, and it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The report claims that rumours of a rift were met with ‘puzzlement’ by people at the club.

Furthermore, the report also rubbished the claims that Odegaard wants to leave the club in the summer transfer window. It has been claimed that the former Real Madrid man is not thinking about an exit and has no plans to depart.

Odegaard was offered a chance to leave Arsenal in 2025 as well, but chose to stay at the time too.

Arsenal have a decision to make with Martin Odegaard’s contract

Odegaard will enter the final two years of his contract this summer.

That is usually the right time for both parties to assess the future, especially when the player in question is 27 years old and in the prime years of his career.

The report claims that Odegaard does not want to leave, and if Arsenal feel the same way, Andrea Berta will have to begin contract extension talks.

The Gunners cannot allow a player as valuable as the Norwegian to enter the final year of his contract. His terms must be extended much earlier.

That makes the coming months really interesting, as it will shed more light on what Arsenal’s plans actually are with respect to their captain’s future.
