Arsenal’s worst fears ahead of the North London Derby have come true as Martin Odegaard has suffered an injury.

The midfielder started for Norway against Austria on Monday night and everything was going to plan for Stale Solbakken’s side.

However, in the second half, Odegaard twisted his ankle and went down in pain. It really did look like a nasty injury and the Gunners skipper left the field almost in tears.

Arsenal fans are seriously worried about Odegaard now, as are the club’s medical staff.

Arsenal’s doctors are in contact with Norway’s medical team after Martin Odegaard’s injury

Odegaard is one of Arsenal’s most important players.

The Norwegian is the man who starts the press in the Gunners’ attack. He leads the team from the front and his quality on the ball doesn’t need any explaining.

Against Tottenham, Odegaard was always going to be key for Arsenal, but the former Real Madrid man is now a big doubt for the North London Derby.

Arsenal’s doctors are worried and they did not waste any time.

After watching Odegaard go down in pain, Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Gunners’ medical staff ‘immediately’ made contact with Norway’s doctors for updates.

Arsenal are informed of the situation, but they will only be able to have a proper look at him themselves after he flies back to North London.

Romano revealed on X on Monday night: “Arsenal medical staff, immediately in contact with Norway staff about Martin Odegaard’s injury.”

Norway’s plan for Odegaard after his injury

Odegaard’s injury did not look good.

The Arsenal man was in severe pain and you could see that as he limped off the pitch. Everyone involved is seriously concerned about his situation.

Norway’s doctor Ola Sand has issued an update on Odegaard’s injury, and he has confirmed that it is an ankle sprain.

The plan on Monday night was to assess the Norway skipper back in the team hotel and then perform an ultrasound to determine the severity of the injury. If that doesn’t help, an MRI will be done.

We should expect more updates on Odegaard’s injury in Arteta’s pre-match press conference on Friday.
