Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became one of the greatest strikers to grace the Emirates Stadium in the past decade, but what has happened to him since he made his shock departure from the club in February 2022?

Arsenal shelled out a club-record £60m, at the time, to prise Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2018.

The Gabon superstar arrived with the pedigree of being a goal-machine having plundered an eye-watering 141 goals in 213 appearances for Dortmund.

He soon transferred that scoring touch across to England and became arguably the greatest-ever striker to grace the football club since a certain Thierry Henry.

How many goals did Aubameyang score for Arsenal?

Aubameyang’s 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners and 69 Premier League strikes was a demonstration, if it was ever needed, that the Gabon international was dynamite.

An irrepressible monster in front of goal, but also a pressing machine and a leader all rolled into one, the 6 foot 2 phenom rose to the peak of his powers at Arsenal with his best season in red and white coming in the 2018/19 season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 31 goals.

Although he departed on a free transfer in acrimonious circumstances after making multiple disciplinary breaches and being stripped of the captaincy by Mikel Arteta, Aubameyang will always be fondly remembered by Arsenal supporters.

Aubemeyang’s record at Barcelona & Chelsea

After departing the Gunners in 2022, Aubameyang joined Barcelona on a free transfer.

Becoming an instant hit through his ability to find the back of the net, he enjoyed a fruitful, albeit short spell in Catalonia, scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances for the club before joining London rivals Chelsea for £10 million in the summer of 2022.

Aubameyang arrived at Stamford Bridge claiming he had “unfinished business” but the striker endured arguably the worst season of his professional career.

He made only 21 appearances for the Blues, of which only ten were starts, and scored three times.

However, his disastrous spell in West London only proved to be a minor bump in the road as Aubameyang has rekindled his love for scoring since arriving at Marseille in the summer.

Aubameyang’s Marseille record

At the time of writing (15/12/2023), Aubameyang has netted 12 times and supplied six assists in 22 games for Marseille and is currently on fire for the French giants.

With an impressive seven goals and three assists in his last five matches, including a hat-trick against Ajax in the Europa League, it is clear that the Gabonese goal-machine has found a home in France.

At the age of 34, Aubameyang has entered the twilight years of his career but the former Arsenal star has proven this season there’s still life in the old dog yet.
