Arsene Wenger is still firmly backing Arsenal to win the Premier League this season, despite the recent defeat to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side produced a crucial 2-1 win over the Gunners and closed the gap to just three points with a game in hand.

💭 How many points will Arsenal and Man City take from the next five matches?

City now have the chance to leapfrog the North London club on goal difference during midweek if they can beat Burnley at Turf Moor.

But regardless of City’s win, Wenger is backing the eight-time Premier League champions to slip up during the run, and Arsenal will win it.

Arsene Wenger thinks Man City will slip up

Arsene Wenger is confident that Manchester City will slip up in their remaining six Premier League games and hand Arsenal the title.

The former Arsenal boss was so impressed by the Gunners’ display at the Etihad and was impressed by the attacking intent shown by Mikel Arteta’s team.

Wenger singled out Eberechi Eze, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke for praise following the defeat.

Speaking at the Twinning Project via Henry Winter, Wenger revealed: “I believe that Arsenal will win the league. I deeply believe.

“It looks, to me, like common sense. I like Eze, Odegaard, Havertz and Madueke attacking (intent at the Etihad). Manchester City will not make the perfect run-in.”

Arsenal can certainly take positives from the defeat as it was one of their better performances in a big game in recent times.

Arsenal have a more favourable run-in than Man City

The Gunners will also prefer their run-in to Man City’s, who still have plenty of tough games remaining in their final six.

Guardiola’s team have to go away to Bournemouth and Everton, whilst also facing an in-form Brentford team. Meanwhile, Arsenal do not leave the capital in their final five.

Wednesday’s clash with Burnley could be key in setting the tone for the remaining games, but Arsenal will be watching intently for any slip-ups.

But one thing is clear: Arteta must set up his team to play with just as much intent as they did against City in these last five matches.
