After months of suggesting that Morgan Rogers will be an Arsenal player, it seems the Aston Villa man is now on his way to Chelsea.

Reports of the news broke this evening courtesy of David Ornstein, with Chelsea agreeing to pay £117m for the England midfielder.

Rogers has reportedly chosen Chelsea over Arsenal despite coming to terms on a deal with the Gunners and quite how Mikel Arteta will react to this news remains to be seen.

Indeed, it appears the issue in getting the deal done is nothing to do with Arteta.

Instead, Villa themselves have been left annoyed by Arsenal’s transfer committee in general and have decided to simply move on.

Be honest: Would you have been happy if Arsenal spent £117m on Morgan Rogers?

Aston Villa angry with Arsenal over Morgan Rogers deal

There’ll be some Arsenal fans out there who are fuming about this deal not going ahead.

It’s looked for months now like Rogers would be the marquee signing this summer and yet again, Arsenal have stumbled and allowed another team to jump in.

And according to the popular HandofArsenal account on social media, it was indeed Arsenal’s own fault in the eyes of Aston Villa.

As for what Arsenal do now, it remains to be seen if another wide player or midfielder will be quickly targeted.

For Arsenal fans reading this update, it will once again represent a frustration with the club’s transfer team in getting it done.

Arsenal suffered similar with players like Mykhaylo Mudryk, Dusan Vlahovic and more recently, Sandro Tonali.

So far in this window, things have been bitterly disappointing for the Gunners.
