Inter Milan vs Arsenal: Declan Rice injury update

Prior to the fixture, it was announced that Declan Rice had not travelled with the squad to Milan.

There was little information regarding why the midfielder was not present and now, Arteta has provided an update.

Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that Rice has picked up an injury.

“Declan unfortunately picked an injury against Newcastle. He was able to finish and he wasn’t feeling good the last few days,” the manager said.

With Arsenal’s Premier League blockbuster against Chelsea coming up, there’s hope that Rice’s injury is not serious.

Arteta said, “We’ll have to assess him on Thursday and see if he’s ready for Chelsea.”

Rice will miss the trip to the San Siro in what is yet another injury blow for Arsenal, giving the boss a further test of his adaptability.

Positive and negative Arsenal team news

While Rice will miss out, there’s good news on the Martin Odegaard front as the Arsenal captain was spotted in training.

The midfielder returned to training before flying to Milan, returning for the first time since sustaining an ankle injury during the September international break.

Unfortunately for Arteta, it’s one in and one out of his midfield, as the latest injury blow comes in the form of Rice.
