Arsenal’s international stars are out and about across the globe representing their nation on the biggest stage possible.

Among those were England duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, who were part of the Three Lions squad for UEFA Nations League action.

They travelled to the Aviva Stadium to take on the Republic of Ireland as interim boss Lee Carsley looks to kickstart an era after Gareth Southgate.

It’s a chance for new names to seal their place in the thoughts of those at the top, but it was the old names who took the headlines.

Rice gained plenty of attention on Saturday evening when he played for England against Ireland from the home supporters.

Why was Declan Rice booed at Ireland v England?

Rice received a harsh reaction from the Ireland fans at the Aviva Stadium when featuring for England in UEFA Nations League action.

The 25-year-old was booed by the crowd due to his previous representation of Ireland before he switched his national allegiances.

In the time that he represented The Boys in Green, Rice featured in friendlies against France, Turkey and the USA.

He played all 90 minutes in those three matches but ultimately decided to join the Three Lions instead.

The Arsenal star has played 58 times for England so far, playing in the European Championships and World Cup for the side.

Rice has featured in two major finals for England, scoring three goals and assisting once across all competitions.

Jack Grealish reception for Ireland

Rice isn’t the only one who is formerly an Irish international, with Jack Grealish another who has angered those in the nation.

The Manchester City star played for the side through their youth ranks but eventually decided to declare for England.

Since then, Grealish has been something of a star for the Three Lions before he was abruptly left out of the side for the European Championships in the summer.

With the forward coming up against Ireland along with Rice, the duo were expected to be far from well-received by the home support.

They have been on some of the biggest stages though and will no doubt continue to play at the top level, regardless of the crowd.
