Nicolas Pepe has returned to Arsenal from international duty with Ivory Coast. Unconfirmed reports claimed that Pepe returned to London due to an injury which struck fear among fans on social media.

An injury to our record signing after just four games would have been a killer blow. Thankfully though, Football.London have revealed that Pepe is completely fit and has returned to North London for a reason that Gunners fans will love.

The report reveals that Pepe is not nursing an injury of any kind. His return was thanks to an agreement between Arsenal and Ivory Coast’s football federation. The 24-year-old did not have a full pre-season due to his participation in the African Cup of Nations. This led the two sporting bodies to agree that it would be best for him to return to London.

If there was no agreement, Pepe could have featured for his country against Benin and Tunisia which would have been a risk. This is a massive boost for the Gunners ahead of the game this weekend where the Ivorian will be hugely important.

Arsenal will go into the game on the back of two disappointing results against Liverpool and Spurs. A win is an absolute necessity to keep pace with the teams at the top and Pepe will be key for us on the attack.
