Former FIFA referee Eduardo Iturralde Gonzalez has told AS that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia should not have been on the pitch against Arsenal for the penalty incident.
Just over an hour into the final, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker managed to get the better of Cristhian Mosquera and was brought down inside the penalty area.
Referee Daniel Siebert subsequently pointed to the spot, and Dembele stepped up to level the scoring from 12 yards.
However, the rules state that players who are bleeding or have an open wound should leave the field until the bleeding has stopped.
Kvaratskhelia was playing with quite a large gash on his right leg, which could be spotted when Mosquera took him outside the area.

Speaking about the incident, Gonzalez said: “Kvaratskhelia shouldn’t have been playing because he’d been bleeding from his leg for several minutes. The referee let it go.”
Therefore, Kvaratskhelia should not have been on the pitch during the build-up to the penalty incident and should have been removed until his wound was covered.
Arsenal fans feel slightly aggrieved by some of the decisions made in the final; however, this will surely make them even more frustrated.
