William Saliba reacts as Oleksandr Zinchenko sends message to Arsenal fans after signing for Ajax

Oleksandr Zinchenko is no longer an Arsenal player after he confirmed a move to Dutch giants Ajax this weekend.

Zinchenko was one of the very first big-money signings made by Mikel Arteta and is widely credited with helping turn around the culture of the club under Arteta.

Having known him at Man City, Arteta brought in both Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus at a crucial time for the club.

Now, though, after falling down the pecking order and seeing a loan move to Nottingham Forest fall flat, Zinchenko has parted ways with the English game and signed for Ajax.

Still, the Ukrainian found time to send a message to Arsenal fans, in one final display of class.

Zinchenko leaving is not a bad thing in terms of the actual squad and there are always times in a footballer’s career when it comes to move on.

He will, though, leave a hole in terms of his experience and will to win.

In the main, Zinchenko and Arsenal fans will have fond memories of each other and over on his Instagram account, he has posted a message to Arsenal fans.

“To the Gunners. I will never forget the way you welcomed me. Still remember the goosebumps I got at the first game after hearing your “Always beliiiiiieeeve”. I couldn’t even dream about it.

“From the deepest place in my heart I would like to say a massive thank you for everything that you have done for me and my family.

“To the coaching staff, thank you for the opportunity to be a small part of this amazing club. To the players, thank you for the priceless experience, fantastic memories and becoming friends for life.

“To all the staff, thank you for your help and for looking after me and my family. And of course to the fans, for love, support and criticism which we as a players need to accept and work even harder.

“I just want to wish you all the best and hope you achieve everything what ever you wish. Once a Gunner always a Gunner. Thank you”

Anyone who watches Arsenal regularly will know that Oleksandr Zinchenko is a popular member of the group.

He will be missed in the squad as a player and personality and a quick glance at the replies and messages he’s had since posting the above message say it all.

The likes of David Raya, Gabriel Jesus and Leo Trossard have all reacted with comments, while William Saliba posted his own message to Zinchenko.

“Thank you for everything you have done for the club. Top man. Top player. We will miss you brother. Good luck”!

Clearly, Zinchenko is a player the Arsenal squad very much appreciated and now going into a new start, he will hope to write one more chapter in what has been a brilliant career already.
