William Saliba has urged Arsenal to take their chances better after the north London side’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool this weekend.

The Gunners were dumped out of the FA Cup despite looking like the better team for the majority of the match, with Arsenal missing numerous chances to take the lead against Liverpool.

And speaking to the Sun, Saliba has urged his teammates to take their chances better, with Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz all having opportunities to put Arsenal ahead against Liverpool.

Saliba said: “I’m really disappointed because we started the game so well. We had too many chances to score, but we didn’t. Even in the second half, we were good, unfortunately, we conceded one free-kick 10 minutes before the [end of the] game.

“We have to kill the game off before because when we have so many chances like this, we have to score. We have to defend free-kicks better, we cannot concede them like this, so we can be really disappointed today.

“We have to stick together. We know we’re not in our best moment, but we won’t give up and we’ll come back even stronger. We will work a lot during this break, we will breathe a little bit. We will stick together and come back stronger, and better.”

With Arsenal setting out to Dubai for some warm-weather training, now is the perfect time in the season for some self-reflection.

And Saliba’s comments should be ringing true throughout the entire squad, with the French international hitting the nail on the head over what Arsenal’s current problems are.

Indeed, the north London side simply aren’t taking their chances when handed them, and Arsenal have to put in the work in the coming days to improve their finishing in front of goal.
